Hyundai Wins Three 2018 Silver IDEA Design Awards

At the 2018 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), Hyundai was recognized for three of its vehicles in the automotive and transportation category. The Santa Fe SUV, NEXO, and Kona all received Silver awards, making this Hyundai's biggest ever win in the history of the competition.

Along with the Red Dot Design Awards and iF Design Awards, the IDEA Awards, presented by the Industrial Design Society of America, are one of the three most prestigious design awards in the world, recognizing innovative design in a wide range of categories.

IDEA looks at not just aesthetics but at user experience, social responsibility, and other aspects of thoughtful design to determine its winners. For instance, Hyundai's mid-size SUV offering, the Santa Fe, which began its fourth generation last year, was recognized for its smart use of LED lighting as well as its dynamic styling.

The Hyundai NEXO is a fuel-cell vehicle that features a horizon positioning lamp and other advanced options, while sporting futuristic styling that looks just as next-generation as the technology it houses. The NEXO's fuel-cell is the future of ecofriendly driving, using renewable, clean hydrogen for power.

Then there's the Kona, Hyundai's small crossover, with its Composite Light design and unique bumper design for a sporty look that blends the power of SUVs with the sleek look of sedans. A recent addition to the growing subcompact crossover segment, the Kona really stands out from the crowd.

These vehicles weren't just recognized at the IDEA Awards, either. The NEXO took home a Red Dot Design Award, while the Kona won awards from IDEA, Red Dot, and iF-all three of the world's biggest design awards. Overall, Hyundai had its best year ever in design, period, dominating the international awards show stage.
